I deleted the top of the high poly model as it looked out of place with the rest of the design.

Further Pillar Work

After doing further 3D work I believe that I will be able to make a far better version of my pillar. So I have decided to go back and continue working on it


I have redone the pillar unwrapping. This time with many more pieces, I have grouped them into areas of the pillar.

Out of the oven and into the fire!

I am having trouble baking my model. I have tried using both .obj and fbx.dae exports of my models and neither have manged to bake. The second I tried, fbx.dae, claims that my cage and low poly have a different number of vertices. However checking the models in maya it appears they actually do.
I will discuss this issue with Chris so that we may the solution to whatever it is that has gone wrong.

Save Files!


 I wanted to show off how many save files I have due to the fact that I am constantly saving my progress as new files so that I can recall old work if I need to.

Mistakes!

I realised that I shouldn't have separated my model on different layers as I need all pieces to be on the same UV map. (Lesson Learned!)



I would later occur to me that I was also unwrapping my high poly model. This can be put down to my dedication to the work!

Export Malfunction

For some reason the back piece of my high poly model was missing when import it into a new file. I will have to quickly redo the back piece by importing an older version into this new file.
